Christmas Campgrounds

It's almost Christmas time!  If you live "up north" like Mr. Happy Camper and I, this is the time of year that the camper is nestled snuggly under a blanket of white, while visions of campfires dance in your head.   But that doesn't mean that you can't dream about a camping Christmas.  So in the spirit of the season we went searching for campgrounds to help you make the season bright.

First on our list is the Christmas RV Park in Christmas, Florida.  The town of Christmas is located about 20 miles east of Orlando, which means that you aren't far from Walt Disney World.  It is also close to the Atlantic Ocean, Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral and Sea World in Orlando.  And there is no need to worry about a white Christmas.  It's always tropical at the Christmas RV Park.

If you are willing to wait for Christmas in July, then you might want to make reservations at Lake Rudolph Campground in Santa Claus, Indiana.  Lake Rudolph Campground is located next door to Holiday World & Splashin' Safari,  an amusement and water park.  Also nearby is the Santa Claus Christmas Store.  From gifts, collectibles and twinkling light displays to Christmas goodies, they have everything you need to make your Christmas merry.  If you are passing through the area around Christmas time, you can see the Santa Claus Land of Lights, the Shining Story of Rudolph told on story boards and brilliant LED light displays.

Not feeling the Christmas spirit?  Then Humbug, Arizona is the place for you!  Humbug is an old ghost town in the southern Bradshaw Mountains.  It is privately owned property, but they offer tours from time to time.  If you are looking for a campground in the area, try the Black Canyon City KOA or the Bradshaw Mountain RV Resort.  Both are located about 25 miles from North Phoenix and Scottsdale and they are near the Tonto National Forest, where you can access more than 70,000 acres of multipurpose trails.  That should be enough to bring a smile to even the biggest Scrooge's face.
